A graphic designer by trade, I started fusing glass in 2003 when I took a class at the Florida State University Art Center. I took the class for 3 years until I finally got my own 220 Watt Jen Ken kiln in 2006.
My favorite glass to work with is System 96 because it is a softer glass that melts faster at a lower temperature. I'm an impatient artist so this is a big help.
I use a Diamond Tech band saw glass cutter. It's great for beginners but I use mine so much that after a year, I've already had to replace the wheels. I've since upgraded to a Taurus 3 ring saw. It cuts anything!
I have just scratched the surface of glass fusion and I'm still experimenting with fusible photo paper, and enamel paints..
